On Feb. 11, Chabad of Charleston hosts a special multimedia lecture with the son of Zus Bielski, the inspiration for the movie Defiance. Released in 2008, Defiance stars Daniel Craig and tells the story of Zus, who along with his brothers, escaped into the woods of the Republic of Belorussia during WWII to evade the Nazi regime. They built a village, which came to be the home of 1,250 escaped Jews.
The lecture itself, given by Zvi Bielski, will contain video clips of Zus speaking about the events that took place as well as stories Zvi remembers his father telling him that didn’t make it into the movie. To attend, RSVP by phone to (843) 884-2323 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org. The event will be held at the Holiday Inn in Mt. Pleasant, and it is $10 for adults and free for students.
