Southern-tinged alt-rock powerhouse My Morning Jacket recently announced a string of spring tour dates, many with the historic Preservation Hall Jazz Band as support. They’re solid for a concert at the Family Circle Magazine Stadium (161 Seven Farms Drive, 843-849-5300) on Daniel Island on Wed. April 28. The event is officially presented by the Charleston City Paper and The Bridge at 105.5 WCOO.
My Morning Jacket hasn’t graced a stage in the Charleston area since a gig at The Plex in 2006. Led by singer/guitarist Jim James — alongside bassist Two-Tone Tommy, drummer Patrick Hallahan, guitarist/saxophonist Carl Broemel, and keyboardist Bo Koster — the Louisville, Ken.-born ensemble has been the highlight of many a summer festival. ATO Records released the band’s latest studio album, Evil Urges, in 2008.
Showtime for the Daniel Island concert is 8 p.m. Advance tickets go on sale for $40 and $30 at 10 a.m. on Fri. Feb. 5 via all Ticketmaster outlets (by phone at 800-745-3000, or online at ticketmaster.com). Visit mymorningjacket.com and familycirclecup.com for more.
