Most of the movies that have been filmed in the Charleston area belong to similar genres. Romances, historical dramas. Now we even have our very own action flick. Cold Soldiers, written, directed, and co-produced by City Paper contributor Nick Smith, was filmed entirely in the Lowcountry. The film is about a group of highly trained soldiers who are being treated for PTSD and the doctor who is treating them. But when folks start dying, the good doc suspects his patients might be involved. Much action-adventuring spectacle ensues — you know, like stunts, car chases, and, oh-yeah, explosions. It’s like if Dear John had way less kissy-time and way more explosions. Cold Soldiers will premiere at the Charleston Film Festival at 7 p.m. on Thurs. March 11.
