The last year has been a bit tumultuous for Charleston indie band Explorers Club, with a few starts, stops, and adjustments.

Singer/guitarist Jason Brewer recently announced a "comeback show of sorts" scheduled for Fri. March 19 at the Village Tavern. Billed as Awendaw Green Presents The Charleston Megabowl, the gig features a new Explorers Club lineup (Brewer, Neil Thomas, David Ellis, Wally Reddington, Trey Cooper, and Justin James) with special guests Redbirds, Slanguage, and The Makeshift. Admission is $5, and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to Camp Happy Days and Special Times, two nonprofit organizations helping children with cancer and their families. The band has a new album coming out this year. Visit myspace.com/explorersclub for more info on the band and the show.

Meanwhile two longtime members of Explorers Club — guitarist Jim Faust and keyboardist Stefan Rogenmoser — are currently involved in a new pop/rock project call Go for Launch. "Jim and I are having fun with the new project," says Rogenmoser. "The first show was Feb. 5 at the Village Tavern, and it was a blast. It’s very original and doesn’t sound like a rip-off of any other bands." Check out goforlaunchband.com for more.
