Students who are currently in grades 8-12 are eligible to apply to the Redux Summer Art Institute (SAI) program. SAI is accepting up to 30 students to participate in this opportunity to further their artistic abilities. The deadline to turn in the application and a portfolio, which can be downloaded from the Redux website, is March 26.

Redux, in cooperation with the Charleston County School District, has hosted this educational program since 2003 to teach high school students who show promise in the arts. SAI’s mission is to give the students valuable experience in the visual arts as well as give instruction and production outside the scope of regular visual art classes.

SAI will be held at the Redux Contemporary Art Center and at West Ashley High School. Students will have three weeks of intense training in oil painting, drawing, and sculpting starting in June. Cost of the program is $75. At the end of the program, students will put on a full exhibition of their works in the Redux galleries. For more information, call Redux at (843) 722-0697.
