Social Wine Bar celebrated their three-year anniversary Wednesday night with the granddaddy of all wine tastings. With nearly 50 of their favorite wines from the past three years being featured (and poured quite generously as the night wore on), it was virtually impossible to taste everything. One, because after sampling so many varieties, you probably wouldn’t be able to stand up, and two, because after awhile, it gets hard to remember what you have and have not tried. But we did our best.

The event drew a slightly smaller crowd than last year, which was a relief — Social’s small dining room can only fit so many people, even with the tables cleared. Social’s favored vendors, including Grassroots, Ben Arnold, Vinifera, Carolina Wine Source, and Advintage had representatives ready to pour and talk about each wine, while we soaked up their knowledge (and the alcohol). We tried wines from Spain, South Africa, Italy, Australia, and beyond. By the end of the night, we not only had a good buzz, but a greater understanding and appreciation of vino. We imagine the Social wine studs would be pleased.
