It’s a damn shame when yet another great local restaurant closes down. Craves is no longer open for business at their location on 616 Meeting St. But before you start looking for a new soul food joint to frequent, Craves is not gone for good. They are simply relocating to a spot closer to the Visitor’s Center in Downtown Charleston. The new location is still under construction, but expect to see Craves rise again from the debris and back into our hearts sometime soon.

But if the new Craves hasn’t even opened yet, why close down the current one? “We were having a lot of trouble with the building,” says Regina Saunders, who works at Craves. “The stoves weren’t working, and one of our ovens broke… We can’t really work properly if all of our equipment isn’t working properly.”

Craves is currently using the Our Glass Café’s kitchen to provide their quality delivery service every Friday from 1-3 p.m. We’ll see Craves again, but for now, we just have to be patient.
