The Twitterati were aflutter at Thursday’s Charleston Twestival event at Real Estate Studio on King Street. As a part of a worldwide effort to raise money for Concern Worldwide, which combats poverty internationally, the festivities also included a yoga fundraiser in Marion Square and drinks at Rebekah Jacob Gallery. Television screens displayed tweets with the #twestival and #chstwestival hashtags, so attendees could look out for their tweets. Twitpic founder Noah Everett danced to DJ Natty Heavy’s “Superfreak” mix like it was his job. Icebox kept the drinks flowing with wine, beer and a Firefly, sweet tea mint concoction (those of us who were double fisting these at the Best of Charleston can attest to their yumminess), while the folks at The Buccaneer and Queen Anne’s Revenge served jambalaya and bread pudding. Silent auction items included haircuts, massages, golf lessons, jewelry, a dinner at Circa 1886 and more. Over $2,000 was raised for charity, but the best part of the event was the community feel. Since most attendees already knew each other’s Twitter handles, it was easy to jump right in to conversations. Find out what you missed by searching #chstwestival.
