The sixth annual Suzy McGrane Memorial — presented by Share Our Suzy — is on the horizon. Presented by local Shoreline Productions, the event is set for Sat, May 29 at the Charleston Harbor Resort & Marina — the same spot where Rockin’ on the Point and other special events take place.

Share Our Suzy is a nonprofit organization with a mission to honor the spirit of McGrane by raising money and resources to assist and support breast cancer patients from diagnosis to remission. Last year, jam band Indecision headlined the gig at Gold Bug Island.

This year, the lineup features three rootsy local favorites — Blue Dogs, Gaslight Street, and a reunion set from late-’80s/early-’90s-era Charleston pop/rock band The Archetypes.

Inspired by the college rock of R.E.M., The Pixies, Pavement, and Meat Puppets, The Archetypes used to rock local frat house parties and club gigs at spots like the old Myskyn’s Tavern, the Windjammer, and the original Music Farm. Charismatic lead singer Tommy Dew and guitarists Kevin Wadley (one of the original owners of the Music Farm) and Joey Allawos were the core of the band’s ever-changing lineup.

Advance tickets are on sale for $35 (they’re $50 on the day of the show) by way of, at Monster Movies & Music, and by phone at (800) 514-ETIX. See and for more.
