Local ensemble Sol Driven Train is putting the final polish on a new set of originals for an upcoming album release.

The groove-heavy, melody-minded quintet recently completed the mixes on 16 songs with assistance from engineer Jeff Hodges at Charleston Sound. They tracked the tunes with engineer Russell Andrews at Hillcreek Studios in Candler, N.C. and with local studio dude Nat Mundy at Awendaw Green.

Special guest vocalists and musicians in the collection include singer Cary Ann Hearst, singer Danielle Howle, trumpeter Cameron Harder-Handel, string player Roger Bellow, and organist Jim Peterman, among others.

SDT Singer/guitarist and percussionist Joel Timmons says they’ll organize the final track listing this month and release the final version of Believe (their fourth independently-produced studio collection) in May. A CD release show is scheduled for Fri. May 14 at the Pour House.
