More than 2,500 movie lovers attended the Charleston International Film Festival this year. Most movie blocks sold out or were at capacity, according to CIFF. The festivalโ€™s Golden Crescent Award for Best Film went to its main feature, The 5th Quarter, written, directed, and produced by Rick Bieber. Shannon Laribo, a 16-year-old, won an award for best screenplay for In that Place. โ€œEverything was super smooth thanks to the team and volunteers,โ€ CIFF co-founder Brian Peacher says. โ€œI just felt bad about having to turn some people away at the box office when weโ€™d reach capacity. I guess thatโ€™s a good thing though.โ€
