More than 2,500 movie lovers attended the Charleston International Film Festival this year. Most movie blocks sold out or were at capacity, according to CIFF. The festivalโs Golden Crescent Award for Best Film went to its main feature, The 5th Quarter, written, directed, and produced by Rick Bieber. Shannon Laribo, a 16-year-old, won an award for best screenplay for In that Place. โEverything was super smooth thanks to the team and volunteers,โ CIFF co-founder Brian Peacher says. โI just felt bad about having to turn some people away at the box office when weโd reach capacity. I guess thatโs a good thing though.โ
