The sixth annual Blues by the Sea event is set to boogie on Sat. May 8 with performances by S.C. blues-rock champ Shane Pruitt and his band, guitarist Skyla Burrell and her group, and veteran blues-rock songwriter and singer/guitarist Bobby Parker and his L.A.-based Blues Night Band.

Presented by the Town of Kiawah Accommodations Tax Committee, Bill and Marilyn Blizard (of Kiawah Friends of the Blues), and the Lowcountry Blues Bash, the event takes place at Freshfields Village Green (located near the entrance to Kiawah and Seabrook islands, 45 minutes southeast of downtown) from 2-7 p.m. Admission is free.

Organizer Gary Erwin says there’ll be food and drink for sale (no coolers allowed). The event will go down rain or shine. Call (843) 762-9125 or visit bluesbsh.com/kiawah for more info.
