Local blues/garage quartet Steel Petals have a double-shot CD release party in the works.

The band’s new album features a variety of gospel-tinged blues-rock grooves propelled by bespectacled frontman Blake Ohlson’s growly singing and electric guitar and lap steel work.

Backed by drummer Duck Reynolds, organist Whitt Algar, and bassist Martin Whipkey, the Petals bring their unique fuzz-wah style and swingin/poundin’ rhythms to Fiery Ron’s Home Team BBQ on Sullivan’s Island on Fri. April 30 and the sister Home Team BBQ on West Ashley on Sat. May 1.

Friends from the Holy City Beard and Moustache Society and the Lowcountry High Rollers will be on hand on Sullivan’s for night two.

Look for an interview/feature in this week’s issue. Visit steelpetals.net for more.
