Enjoy this week’s freebies packed with hot new looks, book signings, local tastes, and live music.

TUESDAY. Eye Level Art hosts a free Fashion and Art Party with goods from Sucker Jeans, Stella and Dot Jewelry, and Drue Dun. Enjoy live music by the Fire Apes with a glass of champagne in hand.

WEDNESDAY. Learn about the deep blue waters at Ocean Fun with Agnes Pflumm, an evening of ocean education, storytelling, theater, tours of the Spirit of South Carolina, food, and drumming at the Charleston Maritime Center. Later on, catch the Starlight Cinema Series’ featured movie, Night at the Museum: Battle at the Smithsonian. Enjoy the adventurous tale beginning at 9 p.m. at Freshfields Village.

THURSDAY. Voodoo Tiki Bar and Lounge hosts Reggae Summer Nights. Celebrate the Caribbean rhythms and reggae beats with DJ D-Rock and DJ Matt Blaster. Enjoy a storewide sale, sweet treats, and champagne at the Vintage Trunk Show and Photo Exhibit hosted by Cose Belle from 4-8 p.m. with vintage clothing from Lori Wyatt and photography by Diana Deaver on display.

FRIDAY. Be amazed at the Juggling and Variety Show featuring Mark Lippard performing his daring stunts and juggling act from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Sterett Hall Auditorium. Authors of Charleston From Above, Daan Muller and Frank Glenn, will be signing books from 12-2 p.m. at Waldenbooks. Check out the latest energy efficient technologies and sustainable materials at the grand reopening of the Greenhouse Learning Center. Listen to live music by Mac Leaphart and Wilson Pippen while indulging in the free food and refreshments at The Sustainability Institute’s Green House from 1-6:30 p.m.

SATURDAY. Whole Foods Market on Mt. Pleasant hosts A Taste of South Carolina where you can meet local vendors, hear their stories, and try the locally grown foods. Vendors include Holy City Chocolate, Food for the Southern Soul, Grawnola, and many others. St. Joseph’s Catholic Church hosts the Sons of Italy Book Sale where over 7,000 hard and soft-cover books can be found for $1. Food and beverage will be available for purchase and the sale lasts from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (and on Sunday from 12-4 p.m.)

SUNDAY. Check out the Charleston Bed Race at 3 p.m. at Hampton Park. Celebrate Carolina Day at Fort Moultrie from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event includes period medical displays, musket firing demonstrations, children’s programs, and a band concert (the celebrations continues on Monday).
