The Receiver Time Based Media Festival, organized by local artists Liz Vaughan and Jarod Charzewski, will take place from March 10-13 in downtown Charleston. Organizers define time based media as “any work that requires time for the maturation or completion of the art experience” — think video, film, performance theater, dance, kinetic sculpture, or some combination of those.

Festival events will range in magnitude and culminate in a six-week exhibition at Redux Contemporary Art Center. The exhibition includes a $2,000 honorarium for an artist or a group of artists. Interested artists must complete a submission packet by Aug. 16. There is a one-time $15 fee, which will help to cover the festival’s honorariums, venue fees, and equipment rental fees. Additionally, artists should provide the URL to their website, submit a CD with QuickTime video, or submit a DVD. All CD and DVD submissions must be under five minutes to be considered. Artists may submit as many works as they wish.
