Karen Ann Myers, the executive director of Redux Contemporary Art Center, has had a good month. Not only did she open her new show, Thinking of You, at Santa Monica’s Luis De Jesus Gallery on July 3, but she was the featured artist at artistaday.com on July 7. FlavorWire also featured her as a Daily Dose Pick on June 30.

Myers’ hyper-sexual paintings and screenprints explore what it means to be a woman in contemporary society. A release from the gallery reads: “While the female figures that she depicts are often strong and confident in their sexuality, the paintings also offer a glimpse into the confusion and doubt felt by women in their moments of solitude. In this way, her paintings serve as psychological self–portraits.”

Myers is back in Charleston now, working on pieces for upcoming shows at the FAB Gallery at S.C. State University in September and SCOOP Studios in November.
