The Port of Charleston is desperate for federal as, as a $400,000 harbor study sits on the chopping block. The problem, of course, is that Graham is getting no support from anti-earmark Jim DeMint. GOP Congressional candidate Tim Scott has similarly pledged he wouldn’t pursue earmarks for the 1st Congressional District.

From the Post and Courier report:

“We’re just seeing panic,” U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham said. “It would be a complete economic disaster for South Carolina if our port is not set up to accommodate the larger ships that are coming through the Panama Canal.”
