Charleston Fashion Week has opened their Emerging Designer Competition to the entire East Coast. While previous entrants were required to reside in Southeastern states, 2011 applicants may hail from as far away as Maine.
“This was an organic decision that will inevitability enhance the quality of collections shown and increase media attention for the 2011 semifinalists,” CFW Creative Director Ayoka Lucas said in a recent release.
Twice as many semifinalists will be accepted to debut their fall collections — 16 in all. A panel of judges will select one winner nightly to move on to Saturday’s final competition. The deadline for submissions is Oct. 1. See charlestonfashionweek.com for more details.
