Nashville-based country artist Troy Olsen is touring the Southeast behind his new single "Summer Thing," which he penned with Ben Hayslip and Jimmy Yeary.

The execs at Olsen’s label, EMI say, "Troy’s usage of modern techniques applied to traditional country songs creates a unique sound that’s undeniably country, but fresh. His songs resonate with the richness of the American Southwest, while still representative of 21st century culture."

Olsen plays a free early evening show at the Windjammer on Thurs. Aug. 5 at 7 p.m. The IOP gig is sponsored by local radio station WEZL 103.5.

Local quartets Steel Petals and The Bushels share the ‘Jammer stage afterward at 10 p.m. See troyolsen.com and the-windjammer.com for more. —T. Ballard Lesemann
