The latest Iron Chef America season began airing earlier this August, and Charleston food fans are encouraged to set their DVRs. This season will feature at least three local chefs putting their chops on display in Kitchen Stadium. Of course, confidentiality agreements being what they are, no chef has been willing to confirm their appearance on the record, but there have been enough tweets, Facebook posts, and back-of-the-hand whispers for us to feel confident in encouraging you to pay close attention to the Food Network.

Here’s what we know: all three chefs are well known, all three have made television appearances before, and one of these guys’ secret ingredient was okra. Take that for what it is. Here’s the link to Iron Chef America’s episode guide. The show airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. (with repeat showings throughout the week, including Saturday at 2 a.m. for the f&b workers in the crowd).

What Charleston chef/Iron Chef/secret ingredient combos would you like to see most?

Mine would be Sean Brock/Morimoto/Figs. Morimoto is hands down the most awesome Iron Chef, and I think Sean Brock could take a fig (my fruit obsession) and do all kinds of cool stuff employing his vast arsenal of techniques. It would make for a hell of an interesting competition, what with Brock’s molecular/farm-fresh fusion and Morimoto’s ingenious expertise and intimidating accent. What do you think?
