The Taco Boy parking lot was overflowing Tuesday evening, but folks weren’t just there for the tasty tacos and margaritas — many had stopped to say hello to the restaurant’s colorful new food truck. And eat tacos and drink margaritas. The bright blue truck, painted with Taco Boy’s signature sombrero-sporting skull, was parked under a shady tree in front of the restaurant on Huger Street.
Chorizo, steak, chicken, and fried fish tacos were on the menu, and guests ordered from two windows on the side of the truck. After a short wait, the friendly cooks called out our names (the truck’s equipped with a speaker system), and we were in taco heaven. Tables of drinks and chips, guac, and salsas completed the festive scene.
The service was faster than we’ve ever experienced at the popular spot, and the food was just as fresh and creative as ever — don’t think because it comes from a truck that the quality will suffer. Word is that the truck will mainly be used for catering private events, but you never know when you’ll see it rolling around town.
