On Oct. 21, the Coastal Conservation League and the Charleston Library Society will host Patrick McMillan, from ETV’s award-winning Expeditions with Patrick McMillan. He’s a naturalist, lecturer, and director of the Campbell Museum of Natural History at Clemson. The talk is free and begins at 7 p.m. Visit coastalconservationleague.org for more.

As for other CLS film-related news, the group will launch its film series on Oct. 17. They’ll host public screenings of films from the PBS series Independent Lens before they premiere on television, starting with Reel Injuns, a depiction of how Native Americans are portrayed in film and television. The screenings are part of PBS’ Community Cinema project. A panel discussion will follow the film, led by a local expert on the topic. See charlestonlibrarysociety.org for an events calendar.
