Sarah O’Kelley has launched a Glass Onion blog in preparation for the West Ashley eatery’s forthcoming cookbook.

O’Kelley, a former City Paper contributor and accomplished food writer, tells us that the blog is a great preview of what to expect from the book, with stories about food, family, and friends.

So far, she’s written about Allan Benton, COAST Brewery, and co-owner Charles Vincent’s father. She’s also included stories and recipes for classic Glass Onion dishes like braised greens with Benton’s bacon, Ruth’s Key lime pie, and Country Captain.

The cookbook will be self-published through Amazon’s Create Space and will include about 40 recipes and illustrations with profiles and portraits of their favorite farmers.

Expect the cookbook to arrive at the Glass Onion in Spring 2011.
