A former Halls Chophouse bartender is striking out on his own with the Belmont Lounge, a classic bar concept on Upper King Street in the former SIG kitchen supply store location at 511 King.
Mickey Moran has a lifetime of experience in F&B, living and working in San Francisco for 12 years before moving to Charleston and taking a gig at Halls. Currently, heโs working with architect David Thompson to renovate the space.
โThe building itself is gorgeous,โ says Moran. โIt has a pounded tin ceiling, walnut floors, exposed brick. The barโs going to be built out of walnut too. Weโll have some marble, classic details.โ
As for bar and menu offerings, he says the food will include nice cheeses, charcuterie, and sandwiches, which will be served until 2 a.m. for his F&B brethren. Heโs still working on his signature drink, but promises a great, affordable wine list along with single malt scotches and small batch bourbon.
The vibe should be appropriately loungey. โThe playlist is all gonna be mellow, ambient, lounge kind of stuffโ says Moran. โIt wonโt be a loud place. It will be a place to hang out and talk. But it will be hip and fun.โ
He expects to be open by the beginning of November.
