Local roots/blues singer Andy “Smoky” Weiner has a special holiday fund-raiser in the works.
Smoky Weiner’s Blues Christmas will take place at Bowens Island on Sat. Dec. 18 from 7-11 p.m. with live music from Smoky Weiner and the Hot Links and guests will play “old-school blues, rockin’ blues, old-time jazzy blues, country blues, and all the forms of the genre we can think of.”
Admission is a $10 donation. Half of the proceeds benefit the Lowcountry Food Bank and will benefit the musicians. A food donation at the gate (canned or bagged) gets half off the entry fee. “No one should be hungry around here — not even musicians,” adds Smoky.
