- Leslie at Ardent Studio
Local rock trio Leslie has a full-length studio album in the can, but they don’t quite have the funds to manufacture and release it. Their goal is to put it out independently this spring so they’ve launched a Kickstarter account in order to help raise funds to cover the costs.
Singer-guitarist Sadler Vaden, drummer Jonathan Carman, and bassist Jason Fox have been one of the busiest indie rock bands in the Charleston scene since forming in 2004, touring and recording at an accelerate pace over the last three years. In 2009, after releases several lo-budget EPs and singles, they started working on this new album at Ardent Studios in Memphis with acclaimed producer Paul Ebersold at the helm. They finished the mixes and mastering last year.
“Releasing a record independently is incredibly expensive,” states a recent press release from the band to its fans. “There are costs to get the songs mixed and mastered, to pay for album artwork design and the biggest cost of them all, physically getting the albums duplicated. After cutting every cost we could, the grand total to put this record out comes to $7,500 and we desperately need your help in order to raise these funds.”
Leslie hopes to offer a variety of exclusive merchandise and gifts to donors through Kickstarter, including an IPOD nano, album credits, handwritten lyric sheets, autographed posters, passes to shows, and free downloads.
