DanceFX recently moved their operations from a small studio on East Bay Street to a renovated spot on Rutledge Avenue. Located near Hampton Park next to the newly built Coastal Community Foundation, the spot has high ceilings, lots of natural light, a stylish lobby, and two studios. There’s also plenty of free parking in the former shopping center’s lot.

Executive Director Jenny Broe says they’ll have expanded offerings, including adult beginner classes. “We’re so happy to be a part of the progress and change in downtown Charleston, and we’re definitely looking forward to having a presence in the art community,” Broe says. “Our hope with our new custom-built venue is to create an oasis for artists of all sorts. We actually have a theater company renting space from us.”

DanceFX is hosting a grand opening week Feb. 21-27. They’re offering various free classes Monday through Wednesday and Friday (jazz, strip aerobics), couple’s night ballroom on Thursday ($10), a student showcase on Saturday ($5), and a “Stretch and Brunch” on Sunday. Check them out at 635 Rutledge Ave. Call (843) 637-4722 for more info.
