MONDAY If you’ve got a killer spike with a Wii remote, Kickin’ Chicken’s Wii Tennis Challenge is where you want to be. For the rest of March, the competition will be held at different locations. Today, head to James Island and smack, spin, and bounce your virtual green ball to prizes and giveaways. You might want to practice a bit: the four finalists will fight for the top slot at the Family Circle Cup Tennis Tournament on April 6.
TUESDAY Directed by G. Roberts Kolb, the Hamilton College Choir will present sacred and secular choral works at St. John’s Lutheran Church. Izzy & The Kesstronics will entertain at the Tattooed Moose while the Steam Bros. will perform at the Recovery Room.
WEDNESDAY Check out Menachem Daum’s From Behind the Lens: Menachem Daum’s Life as a Filmmaker today and Thursday. Daum will answer questions and discuss his current projects in Poland and Arab villages.
THURSDAY It’s none other than lucky St. Patty’s Day. Looking for a fun time? Check out our St. Patty’s Day round up for some free events you don’t want to miss.
FRIDAY Daniel Rasmussen will speak about the forgotten story of the New Orleans slave revolt and sign his book, American Uprising: The Untold Story of America’s Largest Slave Revolt. If you’ve ever thought about gearing up and riding a bull, check out the Red Bull Illume photo exhibit in Marion Square. While I doubt there will be red bull energy drinks available, the exhibit might change your perspective on bull riding a bit. John Pundt and Trever Webster present Creatures of Habit, an exhibit exploring the juxtaposition of peace and order to passion and disobedience. Amy Mackie, director of the Contemporary Arts Center in New Orleans and guest juror for the Young Contemporaries 2011, will speak about the relationship between painting, performance, and dance at Painted Bodies, Moving Canvases.
SATURDAY Hope you’re not too tired from a crazy St. Patty’s Day because Saturday has so many free events, it’ll be a challenge to choose what to do. Mt. Pleasant’s Towne Centre hosts its ArtFest featuring performing arts, live entertainment, games for kids, and more. For pup lovers, dress up your pooch in St. Patty’s day garb at the ArtFest and compete for Luckiest Dog Contest prizes. Or witness art creation at its best: The Artist Lock In II will trap 25 artists in Eye Level Art for 24 hours, challenging them to create a minimum of 10 original pieces. Freshfields Village hosts its Spring Kickoff Festival with marine vendors, live entertainment, and family-friendly, nature-based activities. If you’re an Etsy.com fan, browse the Lowcountry Artist Market for Etsy-inspired jewelry, clothing, and more. The Masters of the Building Arts Festival will have artisans demonstrating ironwork, masonry, stone carving, and more with lectures and campus and jail tours. Local artist Mary Whyte will sign copies of her most recent collection, Working South: Paintings and Sketches.
SUNDAY CCCPRC wants to thank its customers by offering free admission to Ravenel Caw Caw Interpretive Center, North Charleston Wannamaker, Mt.
