The South of Broadway Theatre Company (SOBTC) recently announced the inaugural recipient of the long-winded by well-intentioned Summey Barkley Rucker Medallion. Local philanthropist Anita Zucker will receive the award, which recognizes mentors and supporters of young artists.

Zucker’s endowment group is a sponsor of SOBTC’s summer youth program. She also serves on the board of the Coastal Community Foundation, and as a trustee of the Saul Alexander Foundation and the Jewish Endowment Fund. In the past, shes held positions on the boards of the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce, Trident United Way, the MUSC Foundation, Porter-Gaud School, and many more local organizations.

The award will be presented to Zucker at a gala on May 9 at the Fire Museum.
