MONDAY. Witness the southern charm and on-screen chemistry between Clark Gable and Vivien Leigh in Gone with the Wind all over again at the Main Library. The historical evening program, Voices of the Civil War, includes selections from Ken Burns’ documentary The Civil War and Aaron Copland’s Lincoln Portrait.

TUESDAY. I don’t know about you but Free Scoop Day at Ben & Jerry’s makes Tuesday the best day of the week. You’ll really need the free ice cream if you got up early for the Sunrise Concert: When Jesus Wept. Local singer/ guitarist, Brian Hannon performs at the Tattooed Moose during the Oskar Blues Brew Bash.

WEDNESDAY. Dr. Geoffrey Hill presents Nature’s Palette: The Wonders of Bird Coloration, a fun and informative look at the beauty of birds. American historian Robert Dallek will discuss Lost Peace: Lessons from the Cold War for American Foreign Policy and Sister Souljah a New York Times best-selling author will appear at Books-A-Million. Trident Tech Seniors from the film, media, and visual arts programs exhibit their work during the Exit Portfolio Show/Information Night at the Main Campus.

THURSDAY. River Jordan will sign copies of her personal memoir Praying for Strangers at Blue Bicycle Books.

FRIDAY. Most importantly, Movies in Marion Square starts up this week with How to Train Your Dragon. Married artists Scott and Kaye Penegar present identical subjects in very different styles in He Painted, She Painted. Paddle it out and pick up some trash while volunteering for Mt. Pleasant Green Up on Shem Creek for a fun and worthwhile workout.

SATURDAY. The Sea and Sand Festival starts today with a 5K run and walk, local food and art vendors, live entertainment, and the Surfrider Foundation surfing competition. Today’s also the 4th annual Record Store Day so head to Monster Music & Movies for vinyl and CD releases, record steals, and live performances. Celebrate the beauty of nature and Earth day at Congaree National Park’s NatureFest, Park Circle’s Earth Day Festival , or Kiawah Island Earth Fest. And the 8th annual Redux Membership Celebration is open to the public and includes live screen-printing and a chance to meet the artists and participate in producing a new moral for the building.

SUNDAY. The Sea and Sand Festival continues with sandcastle and surfing competitions and performances by Gary Roland and the Landsharks. The Songwriters Showcase features local talent including Susie Summers, Kelly Welch, Al Pugliesen and Pete Lebetter. Mt. Pleasant Memorial Waterfront Park hosts the Blessing of the Fleet and Seafood Festival with a shag dancing contest, award-winning seafood and more.
