Here at the City Paper, we’ve had Spoleto on the brain for months, even though it doesn’t start until the end of May. Call us crazy, but you’ll be in the same boat soon enough. The official Gaillard Box Office opens for business on Mon. April 18. Although you can buy tickets online before that, physically going to the box office saves you money — all tickets bought online or by phone or mail are saddled with a 8.5 percent per ticket fee as well as a $4 shipping and handling fee. Plus, you can actually chat with the folks at the Gaillard about which tickets are the hottest. For ultimate savings, hold tight for Spoleto Saturday on May 7, which offers discounts to locals.
In addition to those developments, look for the official Spoleto poster unveiling later this month. And the first Spoleto SCENE party is on April 20 at Spoleto HQ on George Street. It’s free for current members or $10 for those looking to join — the ticket price will be applied toward the cost of membership. Find out more at spoletousa.org/support/spoleto-scene.
