South Carolina Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts (SCVLA) hopes to provide pro bono legal services to the state’s arts community, and they’re visiting Charleston next week to talk about their mission.

A collaboration between the U.S.C. School of Law Pro Bono Program, the U.S.C. School of Law Nonprofit Organizations Clinic, the S.C. Arts Commission, and the S.C. Bar Pro Bono Program, SCVLA will help artists and organizations learn how to protect their work, draft contracts, incorporate a nonprofit, and understand legal documents.

If you’d like help sorting through complicated legal matters, check out a meeting with SCVLA partners on Wed. July 27 at either 3 p.m. or 5:30 p.m. It will take place in room 309 of the Simons Center for the Arts at the College of Charleston, 54 St. Philip St. For more info and to RSVP, see southcarolinaarts.com.
