If you’ve driven past the newly opened Page’s Okra Grill at 302 Coleman Blvd., you’ve probably noticed a full parking lot and a bustle of activity. Previously located for five years at the other end of Coleman, the down-home restaurant relocated up the street, taking over the old Alex’s Restaurant site. Co-owners Tony Page and Courtney Page conducted extensive renovations to the dinning room (donning a silvery gray coat of new paint), the main counter, and kitchen in time to open on July 5.

They still feature an extensive menu of “local food for local folks,” as their motto goes. Overall, it’s a continuation of the old-fashioned, Southern-style home-cooking that patrons loved about both the old Alex’s and the old Page’s.

Page’s serves breakfast seven days a week, with standard breakfast fare like sausage biscuits, specialty omelettes, pancakes, waffles, home fries, etc. For lunch and dinner they have seafood specialties like fried flounder and eggs, crab cakes, and shrimp and grits. Gone are the late-night, “post-last call” sessions of the Alex’s era.

Compared to the previous location’s lunch and dinner menu, it looks like a wider selection of sandwiches, salads, burgers, fried or grilled seafood, side dishes, and blue plate specials. The dessert list features a rotation of cakes, puddings, and pies. A small wine bar on the side of main room offers a surprisingly wide variety of affordable reds and whites by the glass or by the bottle, too.
