The calendar’s looking a little sparse these days, but the visual arts scene is making up for the lack of events with a handful of solid opening receptions this week. Take a look.
On Thurs. Aug. 4, Stems presents whimsical floral still lifes from painter Lulie Wallace. Stop by between 5 and 10 p.m. to see more than 60 of the Redux artist’s works and sample beer from Westbrook Brewing Co.

Head up to North Charleston Thursday to check out their City Gallery’s new show featuring works by Georgia artists Samantha Meeker and Elizabeth Roberts McFalls.
Out on Sullivan’s Island on Friday, the White Gallery presents paintings by Claude Buckley that take a satirical look at the economic crisis.
