There once was a time when the Drudge Report mattered.

When it was the first site to report breaking news.

And by that, I mean, that one time with Monica Lewinsky and, well, that was pretty much it.

I’m not sure why I even go there anymore.

Maybe it’s just habit.

Maybe it’s because the news aggregator provides a good summation of the Republican talking points for the day.

Maybe it’s because I like to be reminded that the journalists who wear fedoras are no different than Hot Topic-shopping goth kids — they like to wear Halloween costumes year round and live in a fantasy world where they’re playing the role of something they’re obviously not.

Today was no different.

Heck, I’ve been there three or four times since I woke up this morning.

And on my last visit, I finally found something of note, and it is one of the day’s top stories: The sacred place we call the White House has been sullied by the sounds of hip-hop and that President Barack Obama is to blame.

Seriously, it’s one of Drudge’s top items. Heck, it’s even above the masthead in the spot allotted to breaking news.

The question of course is why.

The answer is quite simple: This is simply Drudge’s way of reminding its readers that a black family just moved into 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. and, well, there goes the fucking neighborhood.

Really, there’s no other explanation.
