We hope local filmmaker Maria White has plenty of cold-weather clothing, because she’s going to need to bundle up when she travels to Park City, Utah next week.
Her short documentary Debutante Hunters, which follows a group of Lowcountry women who proudly don pearls and shotguns simultaneously, has been accepted into the 2012 Sundance Film Festival, which takes place Jan. 19-29. The film was part of the South Carolina Film Commission’s 2011 indie grant program and has shown at various events throughout the state, like at Indie Grits in Columbia and the Charleston International Film Festival.
Debutante Hunters was one of more than 7,000 short submissions to this year’s Sundance.
