Charleston County School District wants to hear your input tonight. The Board of Trustees will meet at 5 p.m. at Wando High School (1000 Warrior Way, Mt. Pleasant), and a public engagement session will follow from 6-7:30 p.m.

Beginning at 6 p.m., the board will show a short video outlining the district’s goals: closing the achievement gap, elevating overall achievement, and raising the graduation rate. Afterward, anyone who wishes to speak will have two minutes to address the board.

Tonight’s input session is the first of four for the general public. In 2011, Superintendent Nancy McGinley held meetings with principals, teachers, and parent and student advisory groups in regards to the district’s Charleston Achieving Excellence: Vision 2016 plan. The remaining public engagement sessions will be:

• Jan. 23, 6-7:30 p.m.: James Island Charter High School (1000 Fort Johnson Road, Charleston)

• Feb. 13, 6-7:30 p.m.: Stall High School (3625 Ashley Phosphate Road, North Charleston)

• Feb. 27, 6-7:30 p.m.: Burke High School (244 President St., Charleston)
