Isle of Palms venue Morgan Creek Grill kicks off its annual Wintertide songwriter series on the heated upper deck this weekend. It’s an opportunity for folk-rock and country fans to catch a variety of original artists in a creekside setting.

“Wintertide is our special acoustic songwriters series,” says organizer and house songwriter Rene Russell. “We present many talented local and regional musicians in a wonderful listening environment where they can share their original songs and stories.”

Songwriter Kristi Starr and bassist Gary Hewitt share the stage with singer/guitarists Skye Paige and Thomas Champagne at the kick-off event at 6:30 p.m. on Fri. Jan. 13. Upcoming shows include veteran performers and a few up-and-comers. Russell plays a solo set on Fri. Jan. 20 with additional sets from Garry Segal, Becca Bessinger, and Pete Balloo. Danielle Howle shares the stage with Leigh Glass and Jim Goolsby on Fri. Jan. 27. Travis Allison, Corinne Gooden, and Brad Surovec perform on Fri. Feb. 3.

There’s a $5 cover each night. Visit morgancreekgrill.com for more.
