All-Star Blues Jam and Oyster Roast
Fiery Ron’s Home Team BBQ
Feb. 12

A nice crowd of blues fans showed up at Fiery Ron’s Home Team BBQ in West Ashley on Sunday evening (Feb. 12) to check out this year’s Lowcountry Blues Bash’s All-Star Blues Jam & Oyster Roast. Folks congregated in the front courtyard, the back patio, and the main music hall for some smokin’ electric blues and boogie from several local musicians and vocalists.

Guitarist Tommy Thunderfoot led the house band through much of the afternoon, supported by the solid rhythm section of drummer John Picard and bassist Whitt Algar. Pawley’s Island acoustic guitar ‘n’ drum duo My Buddy Todd jammed in the backyard. Featured guests on the main stage included sax player Louis Dixson, and singer/guitarists Jeff Norwood, Skye Paige, and Rickey Godfrey, among many others from the Lowcountry Blues Club family. The rockabilly-tinged, Port Salerno, Fla.-based ensemble Nouveaux Honkies played a twangy headlining set at 8 p.m. (filling in for Mississippi singer/guitarist Jimbo Mathus, who couldn’t make it town this year).

The Lowcountry Blues Bash continues this week, through Tues. Feb. 21. Most of the shows offer low ticket prices or free admission. For details and ticket information, visit bluesbash.com or call Erwin at (843) 762-9125.
