My Scandinavian heritage-toned skin shines like florescent lights on Folly Beach each summer. There was a time when every spring I used to sneak out to the sands before the crowds, unbeknownst, to attempt darkening my tone to a more fashionable hue known as “Ivory”. And without fail, the rays penetrated and burned so deeply that within a week the lobster red gave way to dandruff-like peels all over my body and I would digress right back to where I started: florescent.
That couldn’t have been healthy.
