For those who’ve bothered to stop and think about it, the name Upper Deck Tavern is somewhat of a peculiarity. There’s no hint of any type of deck at all, much less any room to build one. But what most folks don’t seem to realize is that this tiny little dive on King has a decent amount of room to spare right outside their backdoor (yes, they do have one of those), and they’re working on a project that will finally allow UDT to live up to its name.
According to sources, approval for the Deck’s outdoor deck is still pending but a final go-ahead seems promising. That’s about as much as we were able to get out of them, but not before we were told one more tidbit that we can’t completely reveal. But here’s a hint: an old favorite King Street eatery might be making a comeback.
