The Sottile Theatre was filled to a healthy capacity for Friday night’s Charleston International Film Festival’s shorts program, which probably explains why stepping into the after-party at the Vendue Inn’s Rooftop Bar was like being stuffed into a tin of sardines. The Rooftop is busy any weekend, but with the influx of filmmakers, volunteers, and production teams, the place was literally abuzz.

The always cool and collected bartenders doled out the evening’s signature Stoli vodka drinks to the throngs of thirsty revelers still coming down from their post-indie film highs (the films are quite good this year), and we spotted lots of CIFF drink tickets changing hands. Near the bar and some of the decks, every other person seemed to be wearing a CIFF badge; the non-festivalgoers appeared to spread themselves out in the far reaches of the Rooftop’s expansive deck.

Surprisingly, the CIFF photo backdrop stayed pretty quiet all night, though we did spot four zombies who made use of it (the jury’s still out on what four zombies were doing out on a random Friday). And of course, it wouldn’t be the Rooftop if there wasn’t at least one bachelorette party in full swing. That list of dares she was wearing around her neck was pretty long, too. We hope she made it through.
