The TBonz group has been renovating a space at 437 King Street for the past few months. At first, based on the permit in the window, we thought it might be a Kaminsky’s dessert bar, but this week they revealed that it will be Proof, a cocktail bar.
According to a press release, the club is a joint venture of Mark Cumins and Jerry Scheer, co-owners of the TBonz Restaurant Group, and Craig Nelson, who has worked at Pearlz in West Ashley for four years. Proof will have wines by the glass and a seasonal small plate menu, featuring nibbles like duck rillettes and boiled peanut hummus. In addition to “real good beers,” they’ll have plenty of spirits with freshly made mixers and garnishes. Proof will open on Tuesday, May 1 with daily hours of 4 p.m. to 2 a.m.
