Like many of you, our morning routines haven’t been the same since Richard Todd left The Morning Buzz in March.

As much as our hearts went out to Richard, who left following the passing of his beloved wife Mary, and no matter how much we understood his motivations, we selfishly wanted him to stay. Over the years, he had become a Holy City institution, and thanks to him and the rest of the 1250 AM WTMA gang, The Morning Buzz was truly the Lowcountry’s meeting place. And for far too long, we’ve wondered exactly who will replace Todd. Fortunately, we’ll have our answer soon, very soon. Huzzah.

“We’ve narrowed it down to two candidates,” WTMA Program Director Mike Edwards says, adding that it’s possible that a new host could be named in as little as a week and a half and as long as two weeks.

Since Todd’s departure, the show has been hosted by assistant program director John Quincy and the newsroom team of Fred Storey and Sheree Bernardi, leaving many to wonder if the station’s management intended to find a new host. “Replacing Richard was never in question,” Edwards says. “What was in question was finding the right candidate that would be long term.”

Edwards says that he is excited by the two “unique” candidates.
