Rep. Tim Scott

U.S. Rep. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) will wait tables at California Dreaming Restaurant and Bar today from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. He’s working for tips — on saving the economy.

Scott’s brief stint in the food and beverage industry is part of his “Talkin’ Shop with Tim” series of events, which began in May when he pumped gas and cleaned windshields at an Exxon gas station in West Ashley. In a press release about the series, Scott says, “The challenges facing American families every day tend to get lost by some in Washington, and I am committed to ensuring their voices are heard.”

In an interview on WTMA this morning, Scott said he had worked in a gas station before, but never in a restaurant. He said any monetary tips he receives today will go to a longtime waitress at California Dreaming. Here’s hoping he can keep up with the demand for honey-butter croissants. Mmmmmmm, honey-butter croissants.
