On June 21 from 6-9 p.m., Little Fish will celebrate its opening with a launch party at Eclectic Interiors Design Studio (875 Coleman Blvd.) in Mt. Pleasant. The locally owned online store sells handmade children’s clothing and accessories.

Owner Brook Griffin is a local mom of two who has a passion for scouting out stylish duds for her kids. “I’ve always just looked for different things for them to wear, not traditional,” she says.

The business officially opened online in February 2012 after Griffin noticed a large demand for the children’s clothes her friends were making. “Everyone would ask ‘Where did you get that? Where did you get that?’” Griffin says, noting that sometimes people would have difficulty locating the designers since they didn’t have a huge presence in the Lowcountry. “Why not make it easy for them and have it all in one place?”

The designers on the website are located right here in the Holy City, including The Fresh Stitch, Lollipop Kids Clothing, and Blue Chickadee. Even cooler, they offer custom orders to suit your specific tastes and style, as well as vintage outfits.

The launch party will be modeled after a kid’s birthday party, with a variety of kid-inspired snacks — think colored marshmallows on sticks, mini vegetables with dip, and chicken nuggets — and beverages served at a bar provided by Squeeze. “It will look like a kid’s party in an adult way,” Griffin says. Most of the designers will be at the party for a meet-and-greet, and the store will offer special discounts for those who attend.
