Fireworks over Charlestons harbor
  • Fireworks over Charleston’s harbor

In addition to a variety of parties at local bars and restaurants, a handful of local and visiting bands will be performing around town at Fourth of July events this week. Some of the major concerts include outdoor festivals and pre-firework show get-togethers around town.

The Fourth of July Celebration at the S.C. Aquarium with entertainment from Mike Allen and his team from the Bridge at 105.5. The party will offer a view of the fireworks over the Charleston Harbor from Patriots Point.

The Fourth of July Blast on the spacious harbor-side flight deck of the U.S.S. Yorktown in Mt. Pleasant will feature beach/oldies ensemble East Coast Party Band and local pop/rock band the Explorers Club. The view of the Patriots Point fireworks will be more than ideal.

The City of North Charleston’s Fourth of July Celebration at Riverfront Park will have soul/R&B vocalist Ruben Studdard (of American Idol fame) headlining the event with support from local folk/bluegrass band Common Ground, beach/oldies group the CoastRunners, the funky Atlanta Pleasure Band, and the Equinox Jazz Band.

The Uncle Sam Jam at Mt. Pleasant Memorial Waterfront Park will take place at the end of the big pier along the Cooper River (just below the Ravenel Bridge). Veteran local party band Permanent Vacation performs favorite beach, classic rock, and oldies throughout the evening.

Check the event listings in Music Board and online at the Music+Clubs section next week for more.
