For every classic rocker that made through their battles with drugs and alcohol beaten and battered to all hell — we’re looking at you Ozzy and Keith — there are those who somehow managed to make to their retirement years in pretty good frikkin shape (See Ringo Starr and Iggy Pop). And then there are those guys who end up somewhere in between.

Take Gregg Allman for instance. The jam-band granddaddy is still out there on the road, delighting longtime fans and gaining new ones, but he had to trade in his liver for a newer model, thanks to Hep C, a disease he likely contracting while chasing the dragon.
