The Post and Courier’s longtime arts writer Bill Thompson has retired from his post. Since joining the P&C staff in 1980, he’s worked as a feature writer, book review editor, film critic, and columnist.

“He has been a great voice for the arts in the community during that time and an award-winning journalist who reported fairly on every topic he approached,” says Features Editor Stephanie Harvin. “There were only a handful of arts organizations when he started in 1980, and now there are so many in every area of the arts, both performing and visual. His long-standing coverage helped to contribute to the vibrant arts community we have today.”

Harvin says Thompson plans to do more traveling and pursue his photography interests. Harvin and editor Laura Gough will be picking up Thompson’s responsibilities.
