Aspiring designers, take note: Charleston Fashion Week is now accepting applications for the 2013 Emerging Designer Competition: East. Named a Top 20 Event for March by the Southeast Tourism Society, CFW is growing into one of the nation’s premiere fashion events, so don’t keep those killer looks hidden away — pull ’em out, shine them up, and send them off.

If you’re chosen as one of 20 semifinalists, you’ll show your Fall 2013 collection on the CFW runway during Charleston Fashion Week. Designers must present collections for Fall 2013, Swimwear/Resort 2014, or Bridal and include 12 looks in total to be eligible. Past winners of the Emerging Designer Competition have gone on to debut at New York Fashion Week and get features in Women’s Wear Daily, Marie Claire, Vogue, and Elle. They’ve also appeared on shows like Fashion Star and Project Runway, and a few have even sold their lines at large department stores like Barney’s New York and Anthropologie.

Needless to say, Charleston Fashion Week is capable of taking your fashion career from “blah blah blah” to “oo la la” in no time. If you’re handy with a sketch book and a sewing machine, go to charlestonfashionweek.com to complete an application and upload sketches and collection images by Oct. 10 for your chance to emerge as the next big designer at Charleston Fashion Week.
